It is with great sadness we announce the passing of West Wyalong and NSWFAA stalwart, Marj Wilson. Our thoughts are with her family and many friends at this time.
The Flower Show is part of the West Wyalong Festival of “Sweden in the West”. The Show was well attended with approx. 1 1 5 people down from last year. Fiona Ogilvie, a writer for the Land Newspaper, was our guest speaker for this year. She spoke on gardens in China and Scotland.
The cut flowers were well down due to the early season and most flowers had finished. However what we had gave a good display.
The Floral Art was once again just wonderful with 73 entries which was about the same as we had last year. The judges from Canberra were very impressed and the Floral Art Judge got quite a surprise that we had so many entries.
The Floor Arrangement in the Bar Area is an added attraction, the theme being “Sweden in the West”. The tables looked great with our blue & yellow decorations (the colour of the Swedish Flag) with yellow and blue plates & serviettes. I t just goes to show with a bit of extra trouble and colour the difference it can make. A mother of one of the Barrick Gold people came and said it was the best Flower Show
she has seen.
The Float on Saturday came together really well and looked beautiful in the parade (the feed back we received).
Next year the Festival will be “Mexico in the West” so if anyone has ideas of arrangements with a Mexican theme we would love to see them.
