About our Demonstrator
Francine Thomas resides in New Zealand and has travelled
across New Zealand and eastern Australia teaching, judging, and demonstrating floral art.
She represented New Zealand at the WAFA world show held in 2014 in Dublin, Ireland and served as an international demonstrator.
Francine holds FASNZ, NZPF, and NZQA qualifications and has earned multiple awards from both the New Zealand and Australian Floral Art Societies.
Known for her energetic sense of humor during shows, she draws inspiration from her surroundings and enjoys motivating others to express themselves through floral design.
Francine believes that both flowers and her designs come from the heart.
Classes Overall Theme is Musicality
Open Class
Class 1 ‘Ragtime’ – (A design to include fabric)
Class 2 ‘The Blue Danube’ – (A Strauss Bouquet) designer to supply own water source
Class 3 Two Elements of Music – ‘Rhythm and Harmony’ (A Miniature design)
A design of any style with parameters of over 7.5cm and less than 10cm.
Class 4 ‘All That Jazz’ – (A Collage) to be kept within a space of 40cm wide x 50cm high.
To be staged on a supplied easel.
Intermediate Class Only
Class 5 ‘Rock and Roll’ – A blast from the 1960’s (Abstract Modern Design)
Class 6 Classical – ‘Greensleeves’ (A Traditional Symmetrical design with foliage only)
Class 7 ‘Colour My World’ – (Interpretive design)
Novice Class
Class 8 ‘Viva Las Vegas’ – (Interpretative design). Must include glitter or sparkling aspects
Class 9 Classical – (A Traditional Formal bowl) Diameter 60cms.
Important Information for Exhibitors staging at NSWFAA Events.
OPEN: Open to all exhibitors
INTERMEDIATE: An Intermediate exhibitor after winning six (6) first places at a NSWFAA
event will be promoted to the Open Section.
NOVICE: A Novice is an exhibitor who is a beginner who, after winning eight (8) first places at a NSWFAA
event will be promoted to the Intermediate Section.
Please note: Novice exhibitors are ineligible to enter an Intermediate Class until they have
been successful in winning eight 1st Places in the Novice Class, as stated above, however, both Novice and Intermediate exhibitors may enter the Open Section.
Please take note of the information for the classes you are entering.
Thursday 26th February
3pm – 6pm Staging of classes 1-9
Friday 27th February
7am – 8.30am Staging of classes 1- 9
Due to the limited space in the hall, classes have been given individual space sizes.
All are Height unlimited.
Classes: 1,6 and 7 = 75cm
Classes: 2,4,5,8 and 9 = 60cm
Class 3: Over 7.5cm and less than 10cm.
Black material covering the bench.
Horticultural material must predominate.
All exhibits judged from both front and sides.
Designs may be brought in ready for staging.
This is a two day event – exhibits to remain on the show bench until 12.30 pm on
Saturday 28th February and may not be removed without the agreement of
the committee.
All exhibits judged under the guidelines of the AFAA Manual.
