PLEASE NOTE : If our featured demonstrators are unable to travel from overseas, their presentations will be streamed live directly to the Convention on a large stage screen. All workshop materials will be provided to participants.

CLASS 1 – NEW VISIONS: THE AUSTRALIAN FLORAL ART ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP Prize Money 1st $200 2nd $150 3rd $100

Staged on a supplied 1m x 1m square board, painted grey. Wall background painted cream. Carpet floor colouring is dark grey with white circles Exhibit to be viewed and judged from front and sides. Height unlimited.

 

CLASS 2 – BEYOND the BOUNDARY/S: A CONTEMPORARY EXHIBIT Prize Money 1st $150 2nd $100 3rd $50

Space 70cm wide x 65cm depth, height unlimited. Staged on a table with black material covering To be viewed and judged from front and sides.

 

CLASS 3 – BOTANICAL SYMPHONY/S: WH PERPETUAL TROPHY – A TRADITIONAL EXHIBIT Prize Money 1st $150 2nd $100 3rd $50

CLASS 5 – SOLITUDE: AN ABSTRACT DESIGN Prize Money 1st 100 2nd $75 3rd $50

CLASS 6 – REVEALING THE LAYERS Prize Money 1st 150 2nd $100 3rd $50

Space 70cm wide x 65cm depth – height unlimited. Staged on a table, with black material covering To be viewed and judged from front and sides.

 

CLASS 7 – INTEGRATED: A DESIGN INCORPORATING MIXED MEDIA Prize Money: 1st $125, 2nd $75, 3rd $50

Space 70cm wide x 65cm depth, height unlimited Staged on a table, with black material covering. To be viewed and judged from front and sides.

 

CLASS 8 – BRONZE BEAUTIES (2 pieces) Prize Money: 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50

1. A Necklace to be staged on a supplied jeweller’s bust (painted black matt acrylic). Bust measurements 29cm high x 24cm wide x 10cm base. No attachments should damage the staging.

2. A Bracelet to compliment the Necklace – please supply own staging. Overall space allowed 40cm x 40cm. Staged on a table with black material covering. To be viewed and judged from front and sides. This class may be brought in ready for staging

 

CLASS 9 – MILLEFIORI: A PETITE DESIGN Prize Money: 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50

Staged on a grey painted stand space 23cm high x 23cm depth x 23cm wide. Viewed and judged from front and sides. This class may be brought in ready for staging.

 

CLASS 10 – PIERCING:  IMPOSED CLASS Prize Money: 1st $75, 2nd $50, 3rd $25

Fee for imposed class is $50 Staging will commence promptly at 12noon and finish at 2pm Space 70cm wide x 65cm depth – height unlimited. Staged on a table with black material covering To be viewed and judged from front and sides. Exhibitors for this class are required to bring cutters only. All sundries and plant materials will be supplied. A minimum of 80% of materials supplied must be used in the design.

 

CLASS 11 – INSPIRED by WOOD: IMPOSED CLASS  Prize Money: 1st $75, 2nd $50, 3rd $25

Fee for imposed class is $50 Staging will commence promptly at 12noon and finish at 2pm. Space 70cm wide x 65cm depth – height unlimited. Staged on a table with black material covering To be viewed and judged from front and sides. Exhibitors for this class are required to bring cutters only. All sundries and plant materials will be supplied. A minimum of 80% of materials supplied must be used in the design.

SHOW RULES – NEW VISIONS NOVEMBER 2021

NOTE: TO ALLOW MORE CREATIVITY, 60% OF EXHIBITS MAY BE PRE-CONSTRUCTED UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. ALL PRE-CONSTRUCTED WORK MUST BE EXHIBITORS OWN WORK.

1. An exhibit is made of plant material, with or without accessories, within a space specified in the Show Schedule

2. Plant material must predominate over all other components of the exhibit.

3. The use of artificial plant material is forbidden unless stated in the regulations.

4. Fresh plant material must be in water or in water-retaining material unless such material remains turgid throughout the event.

5. Painted and/or artificially coloured plant material may be used.

6. Pre-prepared work must not predominate in the exhibit.

7. Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

8. Classes 8 and 9 may be brought in already completed and ready for staging.

9. Drapes, bases, accessories may be used except where prohibited in the Show schedule.

10. Exhibits must be the individual competitor’s own work.

11. All entries to be submitted on the official registration form

12. All acceptances will be acknowledged by email/post, with further details where applicable.

13. Competitors are requested to ensure that no water damages the floor and that worksheets are used on the floor at all times during staging.

14. Competitors must place own debris in plastic bags and remove the same to designated disposal areas.

15. NO AEROSOL/SPRAY painting permitted in the venue or environs.

16. A design must not be changed in any way after it is judged.

17. New South Wales Floral Art Association Inc. does not accept liability for loss or damage to competitor’s property.

18. Competitors unable to full fill their commitments must notify the Show Secretary in advance of the Show.

19. Competitors may use own bases and backing in stated staging areas, but no attachment to any part of the venue is permitted.

20. Exhibits will be marked “Not According to Schedule” if they are out of allotted space.

21. Best In Show will be chosen from Classes 1 to 7.

22. The Most Creative, Best Interpretation, Best Use of Colour, Best Use of Foliage Awards will be chosen from all classes.

23. The WH Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the winner of Class 3.

24. The Competitor’s Choice Award will be the design with the highest number of votes from individual competitors. There will be one vote only per competitor.

25. Judging will be in accordance with the Australian Floral Art Association Judges Manual

26. Late entries may be considered at the discretion of the NSWFAA committee

27. Only one entry per person in each class.

28. Competitors should make themselves aware of locally listed Noxious Weeds, Weeds of National Significance, National Environmental Alert List Weeds and Water Weeds. 29. No photographs may be transmitted to electronic media prior to judging.
