OPEN TO ALL – Bench space as indicated
Class 1 City meets Country – bench space 70 cm
Class 2 Cubes and Curls – bench space 60 cm
Class 3 Crescent – not more than two-thirds of a circle in any direction, tapering to each end, similar in shape to a crescent moon. Usually asymmetrical with the focal area off-centre and one end higher than the other. AFAA Manual definition page 41 – refer diagrams pages 85 and 86. – bench space 60 cm
Class 4 Inspired by Ikebana – bench space 50 cm
Class 5 Natural Contrasts – bench space 70 cm
Class 6 Making the Most of One Flower – a petite design. (A design of any style, over 10cm and less than 23cm overall (height, width and depth). All components, container, plant material, base, etc, must be in scale with one another within the size limitation. AFAA Manual definition Page 54). Limited to first 14 entries
INTERMEDIATE CLASSES: refer to Show Rule 22. – Bench space as indicated.
Class 7 Caged – bench space 70 cm
Class 8 Double Vision – bench space 60 cm
Class 9 Vertical Line – (A tall slender design with a strong upward line. Material may extend a little below the rim of the container. AFAA Manual definition Page 42) – bench space 30 cm
NOVICE CLASSES – refer to Show Rule 22. – Bench space as indicated
Class 10 Keep it simple – bench space 40 cm
Class 11 Succulents, weathered wood and Roses – bench space 60 cm
Class 12 Diagonal Line – (Based on a straight line between two opposite angles of a rectangle. The length of the diagonal line is approximately one and a half times the height of the container. Tall, slim containers are suited. The design is viewed frontally. AFAA Manual definition Page 41; Refer diagrams pages 85, 86) – bench space 50 cm
SPECIAL CLASS – Table setting for a formal dinner to be staged on supplied table. Exhibitors to provide own staging (plates, cutlery, glassware etc as appropriate for a design for two people. Table Cloth, if used, not to overhang table by more than 30cm.). Horticultural material must predominate. Bench Space – 60cm wide; depth of table 65cm and height unlimited. Limited to first 10 entries.

All classes will have black material on the bench except class 6 – to be displayed on grey petite stands on black marble.
- Bench space – as indicated
- Bench depth 65m
- Height unlimited
- Horticultural material to predominate
- All exhibits judged from the front and sides.
- Designs may be brought in ready for staging
- This is a two day event – exhibits to remain on the show bench until 1.00 pm Saturday 1 February 2020 and may not be removed without agreement of the Committee
- All exhibits judged under the guidelines of the AFAA Manual.
An award for Best in show will be awarded by the judge/s from the 1st place winners of Classes 1-12.

Thursday 30 January
4.00 pm – 8.00 pm – An area will be available for creating exhibits – please note there will be no staging of exhibits on Thursday. All designs may be brought in ready for staging.
Friday 31 January
7.00 am – Club will be open for creating exhibits.
7.45 am – 9.00 am – Staging of exhibits (classes 1 – 12 and Special Class)
9.00 am – 9.45 am Judging and morning tea (at own expense)
10.00 am – 10.15 am Opening and Welcome by NSWFAA President – Kim Baillie
10.15 am – 11.00 am Demonstration – Based on Illusion – Ann Crasti
11.15 am – 11.45 am Interpretation of Class Titles – Madhu Shah
11.45 am – 12.30 pm Judges comments/analysis of exhibits
12.30 pm – 1.45 pm Lunch (at own expense)
1.45 pm – 3.15 pm Demonstration – Floating – Ngaire Gamack
3.30 pm NSWFAA Judges Meeting
Saturday 1 February

10.00 am – 10.15 am Opening and Welcome by NSWFAA President – Kim Baillie
10.15 am – 12.15 pm Demonstration/Workshop – Working with Oasis Noir (Black Floral Foam) and Foliage Manipulation – led by Ngaire Gamack
Workshop Materials: – If attending the Demonstration/Workshop please ensure you register with Ray Bradley
Please bring:
- a long, low container – approximately the length of a block of Oasis Floral Foam;
- a few flowers, succulents and/or other greenery that can be used at different heights
- your toolbox and a towel to place on workbench;
Participants will be provided with:
- sufficient Oasis Noir (black floral foam) for the workshop;
- a handout on the use of Oasis Noir (black floral foam). and
- some foliage including flax, aspidistra, camellia and palm fronds.
12.15 pm – 1.00 pm Q&A / Close and dismantling of exhibits
Cost: NSWFAA Members Friday – $20; Saturday- $10
Non Members Friday – $25; Saturday- $15
Visitors viewing exhibits only gold coin donation
All proceeds to the NSW Floral Art Association.
